Our wonderful friend Alex Ploner came by last evening as we were updating the Oz Report and carrying on at the campground headquarters. We were all happy to see Alex and looking forward to a full Italian team contingent.

My forecast (I may be the only one using XCSkies here) was for generally light lift, low top of the lift, no cu's, basically stable. The winds were going to be 10 knots out of the south at altitude. The meet organizer's forecast from meteo France was significantly different, but looking around you could see that it wasn't going to play out,... mehr

Team Langer sends:
Team Langer: The Irish assault on the title for World Champion Sky God suffered a slight setback last night. Team Langer HQ received a call from top Irish pilot Daryn Clements to say that his car's engine had exploded on the motorway while driving down through France to Laragne. Stranded outside Dijon with his wife,... mehr

Lakeview Oregon finally got some warm weather. I've been tossing pilots off mountains every other day trying to find some thermal activity. We got some Wednesday (6/18/2008). One more week of sunlight and things will be normal.
This is a FUN fly-in and we strive for repeat customers.
A few additions this... mehr

Thanks to Andre Rebelo.
The word here is that the DHV team came in a few days later to try to make their case for sprog measurements and associated rules and the pilots, fully informed of the issues by Dennis Pagen, Gerolf and others laughed in their faces and then walked out on them. mehr

The wind is forecasted to be southwest, but it is coming straight in on the southeast facing launch. Weak when I first get there, but better as the morning wears on. After a few trips to check things out I carry to the top because it is steeper there and the wind is coming in.
Many of the pre-Worlds pilots have now shown up and the launch tie... mehr

The flying continues to be spectacular here in Laragne, with light west southwesterly winds Saturday and cu's filling the sky. I unfortunately broke a downtube and scuffed my leading edge material (UVM Mylar - that will cost me) on an aborted launch on the south side in light conditions, so I didn't get to enjoy the flying today. I'll be ready... mehr

I spoke again with Mart. He says that his launch was fine, but he shouldn't have launched at all. All three flags showed the breeze coming straight in at Mart's northwest facing launch, the launch at the... mehr

So it’s all over now, and people seem happy about it. Three tasks in twelve days is not a lot in return for the hefty entry fee, and a rather mediocre performance of a meet conductor (I wouldn’t call him a meet director), who just isn’t up to the job of running a big CAT-1 meet.... mehr
