The results are up at the soaring spot: http://www.soaringspot.com/nswst2008/
The forecast was for south east winds going northeast, light with cirrus and then cumulus clouds, perhaps a shower.
When we get up to the hill at 11 AM, the only wind is coming up the northeast launch, and then it is mostly from the... mehr

Scott Barrett and other pilots have gone to fly at Mt. Borah (the one that is supposed to be blown out). My glider and flying equipment have gone off in the car with Belinda, far south east of Tamworth, so I can't go. The winds are quite light. We have been watching a hang glider pilot circle up for the last... mehr

There were a lot of low clouds here in the morning, but I had seen it go through three different cloud regimes the day before, and wasn't too worried about the morning clouds. The satellite showed that there was only a narrow band of clouds over us and the prognosis showed it going away quickly. It also showed a... mehr

Friday was the "practice" day for anyone that wanted the practice, but it turned out to be too windy, as forecast, out of the west.
Pilots have shown up here for registration on Friday night and to download waypoints to their GPSes. The pilot meeting is tomorrow at 9 AM for the New South wales State Titles. mehr

Yesterday I reported on a new beta version of the Flytec 6030 firmware. It is not generally available from Flytec (which only lets a few folks test beta software), but you can find almost the same thing at the Brauniger web site (I'm assuming that it will just change the name of... mehr

On Wednesday we decided that the winds were too south at Beechmont and headed for Manilla, NSW, to get ready for the upcoming New South Wales State Titles.  I really enjoyed flying at Beechmont, especially the aspect of flying early in the morning. I was up at 5 AM or sometimes earlier to get ready to go up the hill, which would have been... mehr

I reported earlier on a bug that I encountered in my Flytec 6030 http://ozreport.com/12.012#2 (it would be the same in the Compeo, 5030, 5020, and Compeo +) that gave the wrong altitude for arrival at goal around a turnpoint. I reported the bug to Flytec and they believe that they have found the cause and fixed it. Erich Lerch... mehr
