-8C. Snow powder under thick crust. The well packed trail was the only place you could drive. Getting on any side road got you to sink. At one place we sunk 5 jeeps. Anyway, enjoy the first slippery hill. And yes, the unmodified suburban got to the top of the Bald Mountain.

Kyiv. Lysa Hora (Bald Mountain)
Lysa Hora is a large woody hill in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv near the confluence of the Dnieper and Lybid' rivers. This hill is well known by the military fort built there in 19th century and... witches' sabbaths that allegedly take place here.
Lysa Hora was the sacral site of Slavonic Sorcerers desecrated by christians and atheists. Once it even served as a gibbet and a cemetery. Now all the installations are derelict but the pagan temple is restored! The hill is dug up inside out but its underground caves still keep the secrets of Powerful Volhvs.
However that may be, the paranormal activity at Lysa Hora is at the highest peak in Kyiv. Most of all because it lays in geopathogenic zone. When you walk there you could distinctly feel someone's presence. Strange hallucinations and felling of consternation suddenly arise. The sense of time used to vary there, very easily you could loose your way...
But if you have been there you should definitely return!

Peacekeeperj0n did a video of the first part of the final chapter in "Fantasia" called "Night on Bald Mountain" (with Deems Taylor introduced the final chapter) where the nocturnal Chernabog summons zombies from their graves and empowers restless souls, until driven away by the sound of a church bell.
Well, I found this one is side 6 which was the last side of the record and it was the last track on the 1957 3-LP set "Fantasia" on the Buena Vista label (WDX-101 - STER-101).
If you notice these song was broke into two sections, there was no pause track where it goes into the next song. Sides 1 and 2 had pause tracks and side 6 doesn't. The part of the music in "Night on Bald Mountain" where everyone can scare you to death. They played that every Halloween, as well.
The musical part was later used as a theme song to a classic old time radio show called "Escape!" which was ran on CBS from 1946 until 1953 or 1954 or something. Remember the phrase? "We offer you, Escape!" and the "Night on Bald Mountain" music played in the background. That brings back some memories, but I love old time radio.
In 1977, they did a disco version of "Night on Bald Mountain" entitled "Night on Disco Mountain" which was included on the "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack. I will put that up soon.
For "Ave Maria", I will put that up afterwards.
