Kite surfers going under the Golden Gate Bridge. Kitesurfing is a mixture of Paragliding, Wakeboarding, Surfing and Windsurfing and is categorized as an Extreme Sport.
The surfers will catch air under the bridge as they bounce over the wakes made by ships. The strong air current which flows under the bridge can take a surfer into the air for 15 or more seconds at a time.

Hannes Arch, Red Bull Air Race pilot, started hang-gliding at the age of 16 and progressed to paragliding working as a test pilot and making thousands of paragliding flights around the world. The next step was B.A.S.E jumping; he made hundreds of leaps off cliffs plunging at 125 mph. He once climbed the west ridge of the Eiger mountain and jumped off the north face. He flew his Edge 540 underneath the Mozart pedestrian bridge in Salzburg in front of 10,000 spectators, crossing the Salzach River just a few feet below. Arch is also a professional helicopter pilot, an occupation which he loves as much as air racing. In 2005 Arch was the Red Bull Air Race's Aviation Manager and Race Director before switching over to compete. "It was like getting dropped into cold water and I had to wake up quickly and grasp the high skill level of the pilots in the race," he said of his rookie season. "I felt I was making improvements throughout the season, getting faster and faster and improving my technique. I was able to nail some very fast training and qualifying times. Saut en base jumps vers l'Agartha....
Le Base Jump est une discipline du parachutisme, qui consiste à sauter depuis des objets fixes et non des aéronefs. Il est souvent considéré comme la discipline reine des sports extrêmes. C'est un sport qui mêle en fait de nombreuses autres disciplines : chute libre, parapente, alpinisme, précision d'atterrissage, voltige, etc... La pratique exclusive du Base Jump depuis des falaises se nomme paralpinisme. Il y a en France environ 200 pratiquants réguliers, entre 8 000 et 10 000 dans le monde. La hauteur des objets sautables varie d'environ 50 mètres à plus de 1500 mètres (les temps de chute peuvent alors atteindre 1 minute 30 secondes). Le parachutiste accélère progressivement sous l'effet de la gravité, avant de se stabiliser aux alentours des 200 km/h par les frottements de l'air.
"Base" est l'acronyme pour : pour Building, Antenna, Span bridge and Earth cliff Jump : saut en parachute à partir d'un immeuble, d'une antenne, d'un pont ou de falaise.
En France, le mot Base se prononce généralement à la française bien que son origine soit américaine.
BASE jumping is a sport involving the use of a parachute or the sequenced use of a wingsuit and parachute to jump from fixed objects--with the parachute unopened at the jump (else see paragliding). "BASE" is an apronym that stands for the four categories of fixed objects from which one can jump:
Building
Antenna (an uninhabited tower such as an aerial mast)
Span (a bridge or arch)
Earth (a cliff or other natural formation)
The acronym "BASE" was coined by film-maker Carl Boenish, his wife Jean Boenish, Phil Smith, and Phil Mayfield. Carl was the real catalyst behind modern BASE jumping, and in 1978 filmed the first BASE jumps (from El Capitan, in Yosemite National Park) to be made using ram-air parachutes and the freefall tracking technique. While BASE jumps had been made prior to that time, the El Capitan activity was the effective birth of what is now called BASE jumping. BASE jumping is significantly more dangerous than similar sports such as skydiving from aircraft, and is currently regarded by many as a fringe extreme sport or stunt.

Squadra Lasagna - Taormina, Sicily
Taormina is in eastern Sicily north of Catania, home of Europe's highest volcano. The launch 2800 ft launch is from Mt. Venerena and the landing is obviously at the beach like almost all spots in Sicily. The Greek amphitheater and castel are awesome to fly over. I may have been the first to film these ancient sites from the air. I force landed and nearly creamed myself missing a cement block, a steel pole and a bridge by inches. I had little experience when doing the flight.
