Placivel - East Launch - Paragliding Venezuela.
Placivel its a Popular Paraglider launch in la Victoria, Aragua State, Venezuela, it had two main Launch Zones: "Valley" (Valle) South Wind, just park your car, pick your gear and deploy it in the front of the restaurant, have a nice flight!
If the wind its Blowing from the east, you have to do a 20 min. walk to the other side of the Hill, there are two main launch zones: "Up" (terrain its a bit rought, bad for canopy and lines)but you gain a few meters since you launch with major height, this its good in weak days.
"Down": more room for wings, grass (now dry) more friendly for the canopy and easiest launch, in video I launch from the East Down launch.

Austria 2008 - Watching Paragliders on Kulm Mountain
So I had gone on another trip back to my birth country of Austria. After relaxing for one day after my arrival, on May 2, 2008 I started the day with a trip to an organic farm with my brother, an avid gardner who, as an expert chef, turns his home-grown treasures into delicious and nutritious meals. In the afternoon I went on a driving tour through my native region of Styria, a province on the eastern side of Austria. I drove to the village of Puch, famous for its apple and peach orchards. From there I went on to the mountain of Kulm, an ancient volcano and location of a pre-historic Celtic village. On the mountain I watched and interviewed the paragliders who went soaring over the rolling hills of East Styria. On from there I continued into the mountain villages of Anger and Birkfeld past a mountain pass in the Mürz Valley. There I stopped at the historic town of Bruck an der Mur, a significant commercial centre in the area with an expansive main square, framed by historic buildings. My last stop on this tour was the quaint market town of Frohnleiten, perched on the banks of the River Mur, which has some of the most picturesque main squares in all of Styria.

Ochils Paragliding west to east Hike/Fly Fri 28th Nov '08.
With morning conditions of low cloudbase (on hill) and 'top end' wind/gust mellowing by early afternoon much of the journey was on foot with flights to 'jump the gaps'.
The first 3/4ths of the clip were filmed from the ground, only the last flight down being filmed in the air.

| Paragliding accident turn into hill |
A little twig can ruin your day
Channing hill east, 2006.12.2 - 18mph wind cobra-launch. I immediately experienced strong right-turn tendency - the video shows I captured a twig in right-cascade during launch - see the right trailing edge isn't smooth. Full-on weightshift gained a precious period of squared direction flight, but loosing ground because of the drag in the right wing, I (poor choice) elected to stall and drop by pulling D's. Perhaps big-ears would have actually worked. D's of course lifted me, and I gave up on steering, & decided the least damage would be to assist the right-turn & hit the hill hoping for a glancing blow. Watching the ground approach at 20mph, I decided feet-first and to not PLF-roll because I believe controlling the wing after landing is a must avoid further injury while bing dragged up the hill.
God favored me with only a sprained ankle. Video and voice are pilot Ron Lee, treo-700.

Chasing Seagulls: High and Over, 23rd July 2008
There are videos of flying big mountains and stunning scenery worldwide. The more modest hills of South East England have a gentle beauty, and the sky above them is still sky. They deserve a place in the video archive.
High and Over is a tight easterly site that can be truly capricious to the unwary, but the flying can be real fun. The view over Cuckmere Haven is beautiful, even though the ridge is only about three hundred feet. And there's something about joining in with a flock of gulls.
