North of Santiago de Cuba you find Puerto Boniato. The take off is at the Mirador de Boniato, directly above the prison.
zone of flight: about 400 ms above the sea level and they are near it. That's why wind flows mainly from the East and with Lots formation of
cumulus clouds and with heating the greathills or mountains in Boniato (Sweat potato), Santiago de Cuba.
The landscape is magnificent nature
here is beautiful. The wind is from the Southeast.
Landing cannnot be seen from the take-Off. The sportsfield on the left belongs to the prison. Not the landing.

*Puerto Boniato, Santiago de Cuba*
For many pilots in Cuba the best flying site in the country. This is a
south-facing 240 m (to the LZ) take off as part of a large mountain range that ends two hundred km west in Granma province. The slope is about 10 km inland and has the city in front of it. With long transitions and peaks that overtake the 1000 m asl this zone is offering almost all the year good flying conditions (feb-may recommended) for cross. It has a road and regular transportation from the centre of Santiago de Cuba city to the base and then
to the take off. Up there and near the TO "El Balcón del Puerto" restaurant is offering Cuban food, beer and music. The local club (Vuelo Santiago) is composed of about 15 members and may be contacted by phone.

Der Landeplatz ist vom start aus nicht erkennbar. Wiedersteht bitte der Versuchung auf dem Baseballfeld zu landen. Es befindet sich auf dem Gefängnisgelände und ist offiziell nicht frei zugänglich, so daß man darum bitten muß herausgelassen zu werden. Sehr nett!
