The Corryong Cup (http://corryongcup.com/)
started Sunday with January 7 with registration and briefings early morning.
Here is a brief sum up of what has been going on.


Day 1:


Cancelled day due to storm cells moving in and out of the area.


Day 2:


Cancelled due to south westerlies making it hard to launch over fifty pilots on
the Mt. Elliot face (launchable conditions are nil wind or a northeast wind).
Some pilots took off in cycles but most retreated back to the campsites.


Day 3:


Cancelled due to visibility. With the south westerlies, the fire smoke from the
south has made the 5km visibility a problem. I've heard Mt. Beauty has also been
covered in smoke.





Day 4 predictions:


A north wind will begin to blow through, pushing the smoke away and opening the
comp. For some good flying weather. Weather forecasts predict temperatures to
reach the high 30's.


The 4th day and first task was called at Corryong yesterday. There was a 50km
floater task and 90km Open task with pilots leaving the hill soon after 12pm. In
the end, about 15 pilots made goal (most Open class pilots) and group of people
sinking out mid day (briefing starts in 1/2 hour). Conditions were weird as some
people got off right away and headed out, the second round of people (mid-day)
struggled to get out or sunk out, while the the third group (later in the day)
managed to get out. Today looks to be high 37C with a northwest wind which
should help for a good task.
