Here's an interesting article I spotted on a Google Earth blog:

The entry for January 5 is about a guy using a remotely controlled model
airplane to take photos of the terrain which are then served up in Google Earth.
The "pilot" can also see the images real time using virtual reality goggles. The
link to hang gliding? The model airplane the guy is using is a hang glider.
There's a video that's fun to watch.
