This statement from the previous report on Andy's accident proved
upsetting:

The pilot would have wanted us to continue flying a task today (as
he told Gerolf previously) but the Austrian team wanted to have a day of respect
for him. I hate this. The Austrian team guys were effected and didn't want to
fly.

It had already been reported in the main stream media that an
Austrian pilot had died, but pilots, including Austrian team members, didn't
like the fact that it could easily be inferred from the Oz Report, that the
pilot was Austrian. I didn't report the pilot's name (twenty four hours after
the accident) although I knew it from the results, because the Austrian pilots
wanted to make sure that his family was contacted first.


I was reporting above what Gerolf stated to the assembled pilots, and added my
feelings about this whole process. Numerous pilots did not appreciate my
feelings about this issue. They certainly are entitled to their feelings about
it.


I apologize for causing any discomfort to any pilots by making these statements
above and for not being clearer about what exactly it is that I hate.


The Austrian pilots (and others, I know from dealing with my team mates) were
very much affected by Andy's death and in no shape to fly the next day.
