The FAI has a "Code of Ethics" document, and quite a document it
is. It's existence was pointed out to me very recently by Flip Koetsier, the
president of CIVL. You can find it here:

The document is vague and undefined in the extreme, but it has some interesting
provisions:

This Code applies to all who participate in FAI, whether as
competitors, judges, jury members, delegates to Commissions, elected officials,
staff members or in any other capacity.

Hmmm? Very interesting. "...all who participate in FAI, whether as
competitor..." That means all of you who fly in CIVL sanctioned competitions.
"...or in any other capacity..." say as a volunteer helping get pilots launched.


So now that you know that as far as the FAI/CIVL is concerned it applies to you,
what do you have to do (according to the FAI/CIVL):

All FAI participants have a duty to uphold the good name of the
FAI and the air sports community.

What does "...uphold the good of the FAI..." mean? Never say
anything negative (even if true) about CIVL? Never badmouth a CIVL official?
Always praise CIVL?
