USHPA Instructor Liability Insurance
From the USHPA:
This new Instructor Insurance Policy (IIP) will cover damage that
occurs during the teaching of hang gliding and paragliding. Due to the nature of
this coverage, IIP will be mandatory for all USHPA instructors, however our
insurance company will also broaden the coverage under our existing site policy
to cover landowners for claims related to instruction.

The press release from the USHPA is really poorly worded and I would have to say
dishonest. While I personally support this effort, you have to level with people
about the costs and compromises made. Transparency above all else. Follow the
discussion on this indicated above.
Right now the USHPA has no idea how this will affect their core of instructors,
whether positively or negatively. I'll just bet that they have an opportunity to
ask and see if the instructor core is excited about this possible benefit.
I can't say that this really is the height of an instructor support program,
given that the instructor is asked to pony up a subsidized $195 a year for this
support. I also find it hard to believe that the USHPA has, "... spent a year
gearing up for implementation of new programs and services to assist and better
serve our members." I know better than that, unless gearing up including running
around in circles (see the minutes from the USHPA's own planning committee -
