I saw the agenda item regarding developing a new site guide at the USHPA
meeting, but I just couldn't believe that the USHPA was not aware of the fact
that we have a world wide site guide through Google Maps and Google Earth. Ernie
Camacho made a presentation to the USHPA BOD members (which I missed as it was
getting late), about how cool Google Earth is and how well it works with the Oz
Report world wide site guide for putting up information about your sites.


Mark G. Forbes was impressed by Ernie's presentation and thought that USHPA
should be doing this. Apparently he was totally unaware that we've been doing
this for a year here at the Oz Report.


I've had a chance to use site guide lately to check out the Santa Barbara and
San Luis Obispo area. It's been great for that.


Please, take this opportunity to check it out, especially in Google Earth. It's
a networked system, so as pilots update information on their sites, the world
wide site guide is updated automatically. Ernie is always updating the Sonoma
Wings sites and adding information about them to help out visiting pilots (and
keep them from causing problems).


Gerry has put in view points for some sites, so you can automatically see how it
looks from launch. You can do this yourself in Google Earth.
