Windy (20 knots) at Dalby

Jonny was Skyping me this morning saying that it looked like he missed a 600 km day. His dad was reporting cu's at 7 AM at Beechmont. Yesterday when Jonny started he left at 9 AM because there weren't any cu's until then. Here this morning the cu's started early and were streeted up most of the morning. Jonny is here to help Leroy with instruction.

The winds were a bit of a concern to the meet organizer and the safety committee with respect to launching safety. They delayed launch to 12:30 hoping that thermals would come through and provide for some lulls during the launch.

Launch was delayed again. The cu's are really thick now and we can see perhaps 100 streets. Jonny says that he has never seen a day like this out in Dalby. Usually he is flying out from Beechmont and it is blue out here. Of course, he had been flying in drought conditions and we've got a La Nina now.

The launch opened at 2 PM for a 159 km task to Dulacca. I'll be doing the scoring. I didn't fly today as it seemed to windy for me in my condition.

The results will be here later: http://www.soaringspot.com/2008dba/.

Turned out it was too rough at Beechmont with 30 km/h winds. The pilots who flew flew from Hinch Cliff, lower and behind Beechmont and landed at Beaudesert complaining of rough air.
