The pilots here at Dalby were tracking Jonny on the radio. They heard from him when he was twenty minutes out from Dalby at 1:20 PM, but they already knew that he had launched from Beechmont at 9 AM. Warren Simonsen launched an hour later.

The conditions for a long distance flight looked great in Dalby with cu's early in the morning and strong east winds. We heard from Lee when he arrived here in his Dragonfly that the thermal conditions were quite strong early near Canungra, so it would also be good at Beechmont.

Jonny and Warren said that the air was rough especially when they were low before Toowoomba. Warren came over Toowoomba with 3,700' AGL. Not too high.

By the time Jonny got to Dalby he decided to land at the airport and put his glider in the hang glider hangar as he was 40 minutes behind Wednesday's pace. That's what happens when you set long distance records and then try to beat them.
