Adjusting the Airborne C4-13.5
http://airborne.com.au
I mentioned in my report on flying at Forbes over the weekend (http://ozreport.com/12.024#6) that I wanted to adjust my Airborne C4-13.5 so that it wouldn't require high siding while thermaling in the kind of thermals I experienced at Forbes (no sharp edges, big, soft). I also wanted to get it adjusted to reduce the bar pressure at full or close to full VG. No problem said Scott. He is a big proponent of making the adjustments that you want to make the glider fly the way that you want it to.
Scott made the adjustments with just the wings open on the floor in about five minutes. He rotated the outboard leading edges to put more dihedral into the glider. There are three methods of adding dihedral to the glider, this one, adjusting the tips, or lengthening the side wires. This is the easy method.
Next Scott twisted the inboard sprogs up one half turn and the outboard sprogs down one half turn. This is meant to reduce the bar pressure at full VG.
It's raining so no chance to test fly yet. It looks like the rain that is pouring throughout eastern Australia will lighten up by the weekend, but maybe not. You can check here.
