La Nina hasn't been around since 1998/1999 (http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,22849774-421,00.html). Now the waters off of eastern Australia are warm and the moisture from the increased evaporation is going inland bringing plenty of rain to the eastern half of NSW and Queensland as well as Victoria. We've had almost constant cloud cover from Queensland down to Victoria for the last two weeks. On Monday it cleared up a little in southern Queensland.

This cloud cover has caused us to postpone the Australian Record Encampment, perhaps indefinitely. The encampment was scheduled to start on Saturday December 1st in Dalby, west of Brisbane in southern Queensland. The forecast continues to be for generally wet conditions.

The national outlook for total summer rainfall (December to February), shows a moderate to strong shift in the odds favouring above average totals in western WA and eastern NSW into southeastern Queensland.
