The Flytec 6030 and the new Brauniger Compeo communicate through an USB cable to your computer, but they are still serial port devices (strange, eh?). So you need to have loaded your Prolific USB-to-serial COMM port drivers on your computer to make the connection work. You can find the drivers here: http://flytec.com/Products/Software/6030GPS.htm.

But, as I found out, it still may not work if your Prolific driver sets your COMM port to COM 6 or above, for example.

What you need to do, based on documentation from Flytec USA regarding using FlyChart (which strangely enough will work with COM 6), is to reset the port allocated by the Prolific driver.

The steps:

1. On your computer, Open Windows Control Panel >System >System Properties >Hardware tab, Open the Device Manager. Or, click Start, right click Computer or My Computer, click Properties, click Device Manager (in Vista), or Hardware in XP, then Device Manager.

2. Go to Device manager > click the "+" sign to the left of Ports (COM & LPT) > right-click Prolific USB-to Serial and select Properties.

3. Click Port Settings tab, click the Advanced button.

4. Now you can change the COM Port Number. Click on the COM Port Number pull-down and select a COM port that is not in use. If a COM port that is marked as "In use" is selected conflicts with other programs is likely. I chose COM 1.
