Records? What records?

... Who really cares about records? ...

To CJ, editor of Hang Gliding and Paragliding Magazine.

Somehow I found your coverage of a flex wing hang glider pilot foot launching to break a nine year world record for an out and return flight to be disappointing. This seems to me to be at the center of our sport, and deserving more mention. No mention on the cover, no highlight in the Table of Contents.

Perhaps you didn't have the text or photo's to make it a larger article. Why not? Or is there to be a follow on, once the FAI certifies the record? I think I remember a time when miles were printed on the cover in large font, when records were set.

So true, when Larry Tudor was setting the distance records back in the early nineties. I assume that you are referring to George Stebbins' flight in the Owens, which was covered extensively here in the Oz Report (http://ozreport.com/11.133). Maybe CJ felt it was old news by the time the magazine came out.
