Terry Delore and Steve Fossett
... A life of soaring ...

As we wait with fingers crossed for the safe discovery and recovery of Steve Fossett, I just wanted to send these links about Terry Delore, the first Hang Gliding World Champion, and of course it shows his close links with Steve Fossett. Terry has had an amazing career in flying, and having flown with him I can tell you he is a very smooth pilot.
Anyway, he is seldom mentioned in hang gliding circles these days, certainly outside of NZ, but he is worthy of our respect, and if you aspire to be the best glider pilot in the world, this is one man you have to beat, good luck. Terry's book, Master of the Wave, is available in many places, there is a brief review here: http://www.cumulus-soaring.com/books/MasterOfTheWave/MasterOfTheWave.htm. There is a list with his records here: http://www.alexander-schleicher.de/galerie/rekorde/galerie_rekorde.htm. And a brief account of his history here; http://www.gp06.com/pilots/terry_delore.htm. Keep your fingers crossed for Steve Fossett. Discuss Terry Delore at the Oz Report forum
