Got to the next turnpoint, and turned to now go down the lee side of the Woodrat range. There was plenty of sun out in the valley, but I hugged the foothills under the clouds, as I could now see the leaders lower out ahead. My GPS said I had 13 to 1 to goal. When I caught up with Jonny, Dustin, and Zippy, they were working deep in the shade on the foothills with two ridgelines to cross before goal. I had a bit more altitude than they did, so I chose to press on with 14 to 1 to goal. There was a ridgeline that I headed toward that had a bit of sun on it and had a windward face. The buoyant air on the way to the ridge turned into a 200fpm thermal at the ridgetop and I stayed in the lift until I had 8 to 1 to goal. There was one more ridgeline to cross with goal just on the other side, and I wanted to ensure I'd clear it. Zippy came in underneath me and found the same lift.

On the third day Jonny goes 29 km to win the day (the task was 69 km). Jeff is second on that day and in first place.
