Awesome flying today. Pedro, John and I flew a 70+ Km triangle
from Wilotree via Kokee and Baron and back to Wilotree.

It was a great day with climbs to over 6000’. John has the best climbs with over
600 fpm and he led me around the course calling all the climbs which made it
like painting by numbers for me. I struggled a bit at the last turn point and
had to be patient while John was climbing at 400 fpm to 6300’ but out of my
reach while I climbed at 150 fpm hanging onto anything after a few 830 fpm down
sink glides.

I managed to climb to 5300’ and went on glide to Wilotree from 23km out but got
drilled so I needed another climb which I found north of Grass Roots. I wanted
to make sure I had the altitude to make it in so I took it to around 5000’ and
finally arrived at Wilotree with 2500’.

I was so glad we flew. We were all on the fence about flying today because the
winds were stronger than forecasted and despite flying the strong headwind legs
we made it around the course. Pity we didn’t have more pilots to share the
experience with.
