the ground and satellite reception may have been lost at times), and upon upload

I sent an e-mail to Marcin Kostur about the problem and he said this is a rather
common problem with downloaded security records--he suggested doing the
downloads through GPSDump (http://www.gethome.no/stein.sorensen/body_gpsdump.htm)
which has the ability to "rebuild and correct" the G record. Sure enough, this
worked and the subsequent upload was accepted as valid.
