Punky Reggae Party in Voss!

Finally! Ekstremsportveko’s festival program is ready to be announced! The music
program this year can be summarized as a punky reggae party. The main artists
this year are from Jamaica, but there will also be reggae bands from Iceland,
Sweden and Norway.

The song “Punky Reggae party” by Bob Marley is 30 years in 2007. The single was
made after being inspired by the Dj Don Letts who played reggae at the club
Covent Garden in London prior to and after concerts with bands like Generation X
and the Clash. Sly Dunbar played drums to the single “Punky Reggae Party” and he
is heading to Ekstremsportveko and Voss with Robbie Shakespear and the British
artist Bitty McLean. Sly & Robbie (JAM) have been one of the most renowned and
leading reggae bands for nearly three decades. They have recorded hundreds of
albums with a wide range of artists like Sinead O` Connor, Bob Dylan, No Doubt,
Serge Gainsbourg and Mick Jagger. They have released an album with Horace Andy
this year, a Jamaican reggae artist who is scheduled to perform with Dub Asante
Band (UK) in the Festival Tent on Saturday 30th of June. Maybe Sly & Robbie and
Horace Andy will perform together?

Jamaican born Beenie Man will perform in the Festival Tent on Friday 29th of
June. Beenie Man is known as the king of the genre dancehall and he's had more
50 number one hits in Jamaica. Norwegian artist Mira Craig is also scheduled to
perform that night. She releases her new album Tribal Dreams in the start of
June.

The Californian Punk band Me First and the Gimme Gimmes are performing on

which contains punk rock versions of famous country songs like Ghost Riders in
the Sky, Jolene and On the Road Again. The Norwegian band Valentourettes is the
first band performing at the 10th edition of Ekstremsportveko.
