This is a plea to all those Pilots that have ever flown here in
Telluride, supported our long running Hang and Paragliding Festivals and World
Aerobatic meets or who hope to ever come here and fly. Telluride is hands down,
the most scenic site in the lower 48 states, with easy access to launch. Year
round flying, summer cloudbase of over 23k a super great town all combine to
make this place a soaring pilots paradise.



As many of you know there has been a several year effort to preserve the
Telluride Valley Floor, the open flat land three miles west of town to the main
highway. This land also contains our main and really only good all conditions LZ,
Oops Field. Telluride has been the victim of some radical development over the
years, but the town still holds its charming appeal. As you drive into the
valley to town today the main part of the Valley Floor is still undeveloped, one
of the last areas to remain open space.



For many years the Town on Telluride has tried to work with landowner to
preserve this gateway to the most beautiful valley in US with no success.



A successful condemnation trial took place recently and the trial outcome placed
the value of the property at fifty million. We are well on our way with about
forty five million raised so far.

When the Telluride Valley Floor is preserved as public open space for ever,
pilots will once again land there, skiers, hikers, mountain bikers, campers,
anyone really, will once again have unlimited access 24/7.



Land there today and the sheriff helps you pack up. Take a walk out there, go
for a bike ride you get arrested, not good.



Time is of the essence as the Judge has not made it real clear to when this
amount fifty mil, is due. So people are working very hard today to raise these
funds.
