Two corrections officers on their way home from work Monday saw a blue-and-green
hang glider circling above a field in front of the Land O' Lakes jail, on
Central Boulevard off U.S. 41.
They stopped to see if he made a safe landing. He did, but then the wind picked
him up and slammed him to the ground.
"He took a couple of steps, and then a gust of wind came up and picked him up
about 10 or 15 feet in the air," Lt. Thomas Bailey said. "He came down, bounced
two or three times and just laid there."
