The RUC and local NWS forecast were quite wrong. They got fooled again by the
mid level clouds that pretty much blanketed the south east. The guys over at the
Senior sailplane contest were reading the same weather forecasts that I was and
they got fooled also (see
here).


These forecasts don't take mid level clouds into account, as I learned last year
at the Worlds, so the temperatures were quite a bit lower than forecast. The
clouds were thick, although some cu's developed underneath them. The lift was
not 500 fpm.


We bagged flying early and spent the day doing chores.
