Come to Scandinavia! Or rather to Sweden and Norway, where there is something
called "everyman's law" (a tradition really) that among other things (what in
America would be regarded as trespassing - those KEEP OUT signs are just
typical!), according to which you have the right to camp ONE night on someone
else's land, the only exceptions are crops and the vicinity of the land owner's
residence. For additional nights, you have to ask his permission (provided he
can find you or you can find him ;-) Iceland is a VERY expensive country, and in
Denmark many forests are privately owned with signs around their perimeter
prohibiting to be in them between sunset and sunup.
