We are flying in paradise here at Quest Air. The forecast was for a 5 mph east
southeast wind and cu's at 6,000' later in the day. Southeast winds are nice,
balmy, smooth, cu filled.


Before we launched we noticed that the winds are actually stronger and more
easterly. We wait until 2 PM for the skies to fill with cu's before we take off.
I'm off first and there is a 12 mph wind at 100 degrees. I head for a cu and
pick up the light lift at 1,200'. I spend the next 23 minutes circling up in 200
fpm to 5,900' while drifting six miles to the west.


So we've got strong winds and light lift, let's go flying and have a good time.
We still try to get upwind over to highway 27, but the winds are just too strong
given the light lift.


But we are having a great time, the air is wonderful, the cu's are lined up in
streets, so it is possible to follow along lift lines. I'm using the track
screen of the Flytec 5030 to track the thermals and the lift lines. It's a
pretty powerful tool.


I'm getting used to the Wills Wing T2  - 144. I had a chance to stuff the
bar, and I was able to keep it straight, which is an improvement in my flex wing
skills.


We land after about an hour and a half.
