I've been at this for eleven years now. Writing about hang gliding and a little
bit about paragliding on the internet. In that time things have improved on the
internet, and with the reporting from individual pilots at the paragliding
worlds I was able to gather a lot more news than would normally be the case if I
wasn't on site. This is great. I felt that I was right there with them. Well, I
had been there the week before.


The previous hang gliding media is still around, but obviously it doesn't
function in any way like the Oz Report. The internet has provided a new
environment, a new niche for much fuller and timelier communication. We just
don't lose touch as much any more. We connect with pilots around the world more
(although not nearly as much as I had hoped for eleven years ago).


My job has always been to provide a wider perspective, a look at sites, flights,
and pilots around the world so that we all can rise above our natural
provincialism and nationalism. Looking into the future I see a great future in
that and a lot more coming. Soon the worlds will take place in Big Spring and
we'll see how pilots from around the world deal with Texas culture.
