The weather forecast was ideal to make a powered flight to Georgia
and back. One of the challenges was my aircraft has a very small fuel tank,
making it impossible to make such a long trip (300 miles total) without
refueling twice. Amazingly, there's a small airport with fuel, conveniently
located at the perfect point along the route.

So, I took off in the morning, literally "on a wing and a prayer". Everything
had to work perfectly, and fortunately it did. That's a big trip to expect from
such a little engine. I was very happy that a "Mayday!" Call was not necessary
during the course of the trip. There were a lot of hungry alligators beneath me!

Last year I got over 100 hours of airtime on the EGO Trike in Central Oregon,
but only about 10 hours of that was thermaling with the engine off. The rest of
the time was spent motoring around. The reason for so little thermal time was
because the entire summer was crappy for mid-day thermals, with consistently the
most violent conditions I've encountered in 35+ years of flying hang gliders at
the same site (Pine Mountain).

For all of April, my trike has been hangared at Seminole-Lake Gliderport in
Florida, about 9 miles south of Quest. It's been an excellent month for flying,
allowing me to spend more than 25 hours thermaling in the generally sweet spring
air of central Florida. With the engine off, the trike thermals as well as any
hang glider and is fun to fly.

In addition to thermal flights, there has been some powered flying, including a
flight on May 1st to Georgia and back. T It was a beautiful excursion!
