Spring is right around the corner, which means not only the best
flying of the season, but also RVHPA’s 31st annual Starthistle fly-in at Ruch,
Oregon’s legendary Woodrat Mountain over Memorial Day weekend, May 26th through
the 28th.


We’re still in the preliminary planning stage of this year’s Starthistle, but so
far plans are in the works for the usual fun competitions including duration,
altitude, spot landing, XC, out-and-return, etc. And since the date coincides
with the scheduled release of Disney’s latest Pirates of the Caribbean movie,
this year’s fly-in will have a pirate theme, and we’re calling it Pilots of the
Carabiner! So hoist the Jolly Roger, load the cannons, bring ‘er about, and set
sail for the Rogue Valley in southern Oregon for this year’s fun fly-in Memorial
Day weekend!





Oh yeah, and prizes will be awarded for the best pirate costumes! Check the
