The Puerto Rico 2007 Competencias Nacionales began this weekend.
The event kicked off with a public relations effort with the Mayor of Las
Piedras which is the hosting town where the main flying site CUBUY.


Our club the FVLPR is trying to develop stronger relations with the surrounding
towns and so we invited some public officials to attend and cut the opening
ribbon for our official practice day and then take to the skies in complimentary
tandem flights. Both the Mayor and Vice Mayor enjoyed excellent tandem flights
with Nelson Franquiz and Bob Hastings. They were all smiles in the LZ and
surrounded by tons of spectators who were thrilled with the activities.


Sunday marked the first official day of the competition and we have fourteen
pilots entered in two classes, Sport and Open. This years dry season has been
phenomenal and the cloud bases here have been higher then in years. Check out
