The World Free-Flight Site Guide has 1416 place marks in it
now.
People have been locating and sending in sites that they know with the on
line
viewer at
http://OzReport.com/sitesmap.php, and that's very much appreciated!
Manolis Andreadakis, author of the "Leonardo Cross Country League"
and co-owner
of www.paraglidingforum.com,
contacted me the other day hoping to set up some way for our systems to
share
information about flying sites. His site accepts and records cross country
flights with track logs, and has the ability to pull the first point out of
a log
to use as the coordinates of the launch point.
He wanted a way for his system to be able to find the name of the site in an
even bigger worldwide list of sites. For his part of the cooperative effort
he
gave me a way to access all 264 launch points currently in his system, and
an
incremental way to access newly added ones, and I spent the day beating
those
into a format for use with Google Earth and integrating them into our big
site
guide. A few hundred points at least!
For my part of the effort, I'm coding up a way for his system to query the
Oz
Report server for the nearest sites to a coordinate provided.
We're also hoping to get Stein and his
www.flightlog.org system into the fold.
Now if we could just access the HOLC computers.
