During the NSW State Titles we stayed in one of the
units/cabins/bungalows at Godfrey's place (http://www.manilla2007.com/).
It is a very basic unit, but the setting is great. There is no car noise here.
The paved road is miles away and little used. It is connected to a dirt road
that is even less used. All day and night it is quiet, except for the animal
sounds. Sure the cows down the road can be pleading, but you make adjustments
for that.


You are in the country here and the water comes out of the river (which is a bit
dry these days in spite of the recent rains), or the rain water tanks. It's
rustic, which is fine by me. 


Without the lights of a city, the Milky Way (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milky_Way)
comes out at night. Only the moon outshines it.


It is such a joy to be in a world without car noise. Almost all the hang glider
pilots stay in town at the Pub. There isn't much noise there either, but there
is nothing like the almost complete lack of car noise.


Godfrey's place is of course a bubble. Once you get set up out here there
doesn't seem to be a good reason to go into town. There are pilot meetings every
morning at the Royal Hotel which I miss as I can just go straight up the hill
from here.


This is why we come to Oz.
