On the day after the Forbes Flatlands Lukas Bader was planning to fly his hang
glider from Forbes to Mt. Beauty. That would be a pretty long flight (380 km),
but there were strong northerly winds.


His truck and camper/trailer were in Forbes and he didn't have anyone to drive
them south to Mt. Beauty and he would have to get a bus to travel back to Forbes
to get them, the day before the Bogong Cup. It wasn't clear that he could find
such a bus.


So why was Lukas interested in this flight? Well, apart from the fact that it
would be a great flight, he's on top of the HOLC and wanted to surpass the 3,000
point value that apparently no one has topped yet. Just goes to show you how
much the HOLC can motivate pilots to go for big flights.


Lukas was unable to fly on that day as he had no way to get back to his caravan,
but Balazs, Gerolf and Attila did fly. Gerolf stopped after 100 km because the
wind shifted as he went south and was from the south west. Balazs and Attila
continued on and flew 280 and 260 km, to near Holbrook.
