Kip Stone does 59.5 miles in a Sport 2. Sunday, June 24, 2012.

Kip has been knocking out some great flights this year in New England, and
Sunday he topped them all with a 59.5 mile flight over New England's densely
wooded terrain. Launching from Mt. Ascutney on the border of Vermont and New
Hampshire, Kip crossed over Lake Sunapee, the Goshen Ocean (nickname we have for
an ocean of trees on the run to Concord, NH), and a few other big hops that can
be a challenge.

Cloudbase was high this day for the northeast; reaching altitudes of 8200' MSL
with nice clouds forming mid day. On the same day - Jeff Curtis, and Peter Judge
also crossed the lake in their Sport 2's making it 25 miles. Other pilots made
50 & 60 mile flights and Tom Lanning made it 84.9 miles to the Maine/New
Hampshire border. With last year being fraught with rain and storms, this was a
welcome day for XC in New England and many pilots were rewarded with great
flights.
