Marshall with the Wills Wing gang

Rob is tentative in his forecast (http://www.flytandem.com/OBSERVE.HTM)
:

Clear skies, very light wind and inverted a bit above Marshall
Peak this afternoon. Should be flyable, and maybe even soarable. But Crestline
might have light north winds much of the day.

When the shuttle got near the top, Mike Meier on a Wills Wing T2 and Rob
McKenzie of a Wills Wing Falcon 3 170 were soaring at about 200' over, getting
to 500' over. Rob said that they caught a thermal at 500' below launch and
climbed up at 150 fpm.

I set up the Wills Wing Falcon 3 170 right away as Rob indicates that its time
to get off. The paragliding spectators note that Dusty Rhodes, local paraglider
pilot who road up with us, is low and about to land. I take off in light upslope
winds.

At 900' below launch I find a 40 fpm core and stay with it. Ten minutes later it
turns into 200 fpm to 500'over launch. This kind of action happens for the next
hour and a half as I slope soar losing altitude to get back low again and go
searching for the tiny cores.

The paraglider pilots get within a few feet of the slope in this light lift,
just working whatever they can.

Easy flying and Steve Pearson, Rob Kells, and Mike Meier in the Andy Jackson LZ
when I get down later. News from them coming soon.
