Wills Wing donates $1000 to the 2009 US National Team
Wills Wing has donated $1000 to the US National hang gliding team to help offset their expenses at the upcoming Worlds in France. The expenses will be considerable (but then the enjoyment will also be considerable), and the team very much appreciates the help from Wills Wing and others.
Steve Kroop at Flytec is also a big supporter and has paid most of the cost for our new US National Team tee-shirts. More on this below. Thanks again to the Foundation for Free Flight for paying for our registration.
The team also appreciates the donation from Doug Koch. Other USHPA pilots (and others, of course) and invited to help support the team in its "real" effort this year to get the team on the podium.
We know that in this era of an economic depression it probably seems like a frivolity to send a team to the World Championships when there will be so many other demands for our resources and attention. I like to think that we should continue to look out and not withdraw into ourselves as things get tight. Flying and competing provides a "heroic" perspective that uplifts us all and encourages the best parts of our human nature.
