An RAF member writes:

As a fellow hang glider pilot I would like to know the real story about the Lake Elsinore LZ in dispute. Comments from the Rochester Area Flyers suggest that the claim may not be valid. The following are two posts from our club members.

Post one:

“The RAF received a letter from the Elsinore Hang Gliding Association asking for donations to help fund an Appeal against a court ruling which threatens to close down their main LZ.

If you think you would like to fly Lake Elsinore in the future, please send them a personal donation like Karl and I will.”

Post two:

Although the loss of any LZ is troublesome we need to be very careful who and what we support in order to keep flying. The Elsinore club, if I read this right, is trying to gain access by "prescriptive easement" in other words by blocking the development of someone's property because they have been using it for a long time. This tact if successful and becoming common knowledge by owners around the country could close us out of many potential or existing LZ's for fear of them losing development rights of their own properties.

If this were a plea for funds to buy the land I would be more willing to help but to take the land after eight years of not being able to come to a reasonable agreement I would not be willing to support. If I am getting this wrong please correct me but that is how I read it.”
