This past Sunday and Monday we had an incident here where pilots landed on the Dunlap Elementary School grounds after being specifically asked not to. Sunday the LZ was being utilized by a church group and Monday school was in session.

Monday the incident caused the Principal to place the school in a lockdown situation. A sheriff was called and the pilot detained. I was notified by the Principal that the site use permit has been revoked. We have since been in contact with the pilots involved. There have been letters of apology written to the Principal by one of the pilots, the meet director, and I believe there may be more.

I do not anticipate that the problem will go away. I do not expect the Principal to give back the privilege to land there. I have a meeting with her on Friday and will discuss the situation and the steps that have been taken since.

This is formal notification that the LZ is not to be used. I hope this is temporary, but reality suggests otherwise.

Are paraglider pilots a sub species? This apparently is a paraglider issue. I just wish the email from Connie had said so unambiguously.
