Release and bridle

In my cubic foot Oz Report store, I keep a stock of Diver Bob's Vectran and Spectra bridles and Awesome Bob's Pro Tow min barrel releases. This is the setup that I and most of the top competition pilots use when they fly in Arizona at the Santa Cruz Flats Race, in Florida at the Flytec Championships, in Delaware at the East Coast Championships, or in Big Spring at the US Nationals (in 2009?).
Also pilots are using them at the Forbes Championships in Australia and around the world. Many, if not most, of my sales are from over seas.
The mini barrel release and bridle are designed to be reliable and simple to use and easy to get out of the way after you release from the tug. The bridle, at 750 pounds strength, is much stronger than your weak link and will last at least a year of heavy use (like me going to every competition possible) and many years of lighter use. It is designed to be thin and inconspicuous, not slowing you down if you don't have a chance to coil it up and put it away.
The mini barrel release is small and right next to your chest so it doesn't get accidently opened by rubbing on your base tube. It also won't slow you down if you don't have a chance to stow it away.
These items have evolved over the years in competition to meet the needs of the most competitive pilots, those who don't want some thick rope hanging off their shoulders. I carry a couple of spare bridles in my harness (they fit easily) just in case one comes disconnected from the barrel release (this has happened to me twice in the last three years when the weaklink broke). I have never had bridle break on me, no matter how hard I have used it or how long, and I've only lost two although I've had numerous weaklink breaks.
I sold all my fatter releases and bridles so that I that I have just the one Awesome Bob mini barrel release near my right shoulder. The bridle is attached to the harness loop on my left side with the weaklink looped in the loop from the harness. Works great.
I was the first (and only) person to make this combination available to pilots through the Oz Report taking Awesome Bob's mini barrel release and Diver Bob's thin bridles (derived from Skydiving material) to make the best combination for those pilots who want a professional setup.
You'll find them here.
