The forecast was for strong winds later in the day. Stronger even than Tuesday. The ground winds are supposed to be 18 to 21 mph gusting to 31 mph (according to the NWS) during the day. Great forecasts for Zapata or Big Spring, but probably not for Sugar Hill.

The RUC forecast (as displayed by XC Skies) for Sugar Hill is for 28 knots west southwest at 2 PM at the top of usable lift. And 30 knots at 5 PM. Ron Gleason sends this morning's satellite photo:

The yellow dot is Lakeview. Given the forecast for high winds, the fact that the jet stream is right over us and the clouds pumping in for the west, the day is called at the 9 AM pilot meeting.
