We have established a remembrances page on our web site where you can post a remembrance of Rob Kells, and read what others have posted, here:
http://www.willswing.com/news/remembrance.asp
Many of you have already emailed us your remembrance or condolences, and we will be posting these on the page as well. (If you would rather we did not post the contents of your email to us, just let us know.)
Memorial Service and Gathering for Rob Kells
(The information below will also be posted at www.willswing.com)
There will be a memorial service for Rob Kells held on Saturday, September 6th, at 10:30 AM, at:
Kindred Community Church 8712 E. Santa Ana Canyon Road Anaheim Hills, CA 92808
All are invited, but for planning purposes we do ask that you RSVP if you plan to attend. (See below).
To reach the church, exit the 91 Freeway at Weir Canyon and turn south. Turn left on Santa Ana Canyon Road and drive 1.25 miles to the church. Turn into the church driveway on the right.
The Crestline Soaring Society is also holding their annual Andy Jackson Memorial Fly-In on that same day, and the club has graciously agreed to allow us to incorporate a memorial gathering and celebration of Robs life into the event. The fly-in will be held at:
Andy Jackson Airpark Badger Canyon Road San Bernardino, CA
To reach the Airpark, exit the 215 freeway at University Parkway in San Bernardino, turn towards the mountains, drive 1.2 miles to Northpark (crossing Kendall on the way), turn left and drive .75 miles to Badger Canyon road (first dirt road on right, just past the stop sign at the top of the flood control levee. Note that on Google Earth, this is identified as Ben Canyon Rd.) Turn right on the dirt road, and then take the first left fork on the dirt road to the landing area. (You can see the LZ from the top of the levee its a raised level plateau sitting on the sloping terrain in front of the foothills.) For maps and other directions, see:
http://www.crestlinesoaring.org/airpark_lz_to_launches
Typical early September daytime high temperatures are mid eighties to low nineties in Anaheim Hills, and high eighties to high nineties in San Bernardino. If there is a high pressure with offshore flow, maximum temperatures could top 100 degrees. Weather information and forecasts are available at each of these web sites:
www.flytandem.com or www.crestlinesoaring.org
There is limited shade available in the landing area until late afternoon.
Local regulations for flying require USHPA membership, an intermediate or above pilot rating, and a daily use fee for non club members.
You are welcome to bring your own food and drink, and dinner tickets for a catered (casual) dinner, ($10 per person, payable at the event, which includes two drinks), will also be available for sale. Individual drinks will be available for $1 each.
All are invited and welcome to attend the church service, or the fly-in or both. We would like to have a head count for planning purposes for EACH event, so please RSVP by August 27th if you plan to attend, telling us which events you plan to attend, how many in your party, and whether you will want to purchase dinner at the fly-in. You may RSVP by email to <email>, by copying, pasting and filling out the response form below, or by phone to 1-714 998 6359.
