The forecast shows lots of upper level clouds all across the country north of the 37th parallel. Just a bit further south and we'd be in the sunshine all day. There is rain to our west supposedly coming our way. It rained steady last night with no winds.
Right now (8 AM EDT) it is sunny with moderate southwest winds. Maybe it will be better than the forecast.
So far (1 PM) the winds have reduced significantly, allowing pilots to go free flying. The day was called earlier. It's been sunny all day so far. The local NWS forecast has been changing all morning. They are still calling mostly cloudy and 60% of rain (there is rain in Pennsylvania) but if this is mostly cloudy, I'll take it.
Small cu's are forming around us.
A few pilots had short flights as high clouds came in around 3 PM. At 4:15 PM the thunderstorms reached us with Tornado warnings nearby.
9:22 PM: Hard rain for most of the last five hours, with continued tornado watches until 1 AM. Strong winds and the fields are flooded. I don't know how folks in tents here (most of the pilots) are going to sleep tonight. Most likely in the club house.
