BlueSky, memorial weekend gathering

The sky was full of cummies from noon on. But Steve felt that the sky would be lying, with the north north wind. He said that there would be bullet thermals with lots of sink in between.
Well only one pilot was able to get up off truck (platform, ATOL, pay out winch) towing. Steve did forty truck tows after four hours of scooter towing in the morning, some to 1,400'. (He did twenty five tows on Friday.) One Falcon pilot was able to climb out and get really high in the great looking clouds, that only got better until around 5 PM.
Kevin Carter flew in in his Cessna 172 and then came back on Sunday to be the Dragonfly pilot. He hadn't flown Steve Wendt's Bailey-Moyes Dragonfly before so Steve checked him out first. Then he set about towing up the waiting pilots.
Steve Wendt is able to do truck towing and aerotowing on the same grass runway coordinating between the truck and the tug, as they switch back and forth. apparently he has been doing this successfully for years.
There were fewer cu's on Sunday but a lot more success sticking after towing, especially with Kevin aerotowing pilots. By late afternoon the winds switched from northeast to south and the temperatures rose.
Billy Vaughn got off truck tow at 500' in his Superfloater (yes, there is plenty of mildew in the sail) and flew around for over four hours.
With a south wind 9 to 16 forecast for Monday, many of the pilots left town on Sunday night. I got ready to scooter tow my Wills Wing T2 - 144. Having a south wind should help.
