Report of HG Pitch stability WG – Dennis Pagen. This is covered in the HG SSC report. Key issues include:

· More education of pilots of potential impact on pitch stability of changing the sprog settings from manufacturer settings

· More training of Stewards on measurement of sprog settings. Budget for measuring equipment.

· More communication with glider manufacturers

· Update of Glider prototype/Manufacturer Waiver statements covering the changing sprog settings

CIVL officials at Category 1 events can measure and record sprog settings on competing hang gliders or perform other inspections. All competing pilots should co-operate with the officials in order to collect safety data. This data will be used to provide an understanding of the current safety situation in hang gliding competitions.
