The USHPA competition committee writes:

We're getting in touch to give you an update on the 2020 Hurricane
Open. The competition is currently set to take place from August 29 to September
5 in Henson Gap, TN.

 

The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has caused most of the sanctioned events
scheduled for 2020 to be cancelled and made it more difficult for those still on
the calendar. USHPA is hoping the Hurricane Open can continue as planned. In
addition to managing coronavirus precautions, one of the stipulations for
maintaining sanctioning is obtaining event insurance that satisfies minimum
requirements. The event organizers are currently working to meet these
requirements, which are necessary for the Hurricane Open to retain its
sanctioned competition status.

 

August 10 has been set as the deadline to determine final sanctioning status. We
will notify pilots by August 11 to give those planning to attend sufficient time
to make travel plans.
