Hitting over 55 mph when heading down wind and down to 2 mph when facing south.
Launched from the hillsides near Camp Wood, north northwest of Uvalde and west
of Leaky. Now north of I20, east northeast of Big Spring at 5:25 PM CDT. Over
200 miles so far. Launch before 10 AM.

The cu's do not make it look like a great day, especially with the tropical
storm in Louisiana (rotates clockwise).

It appears that the flight straight line distance was 312 miles or 502 km.

We think that the US foot launch paragliding record is 240 miles or 386 km and
the tow launch record is 270 miles or 434 km.

The present world record is 564 km or 350 miles and the pending world record is
582 km or 361 miles.

This is a spectacular flight on a day that frankly doesn't look that great
although there was a 30 mph wind up high, which is extremely helpful. The pilot
did not get high up on the Edwards Plateau. It's generally possible to get up to
10,000' at least there.
