Finally some little ones
All winter and spring we at Wilotree Park had huge flocks of
Sandhill Cranes up to over 50 at a time. Most days at least thirty there most of
the day. They are smart and avoid all aircraft.
They always looked like juvenile gangs, often playing "I'm dominant" games. I
felt that there was only one couple. Maybe, maybe not. It is not clear where
they roost or where the possible nests are, although there are large very wet
areas nearby. Swamps are filled with trees and these are shallow open water
areas. They would have to fight off the aligators.
I hope that they survive their childhood.
