Moyes bashing?
I love Moyes. I love Bill and Molly. I love Vicki. I love Jonny
and even Gerolf. (Gerolf will and has in the past complained about my use of the
word even, but people who know Gerolf will understand). I very much want Moyes to succeed as a hang glider manufacturer. We have too few
of them now. I like strong competition among hang glider manufacturers. I think
that Moyes is a special company. I have been treated very well by Moyes, by everyone there and everyone
associated with the company. I have been flying in Australia since 1996 and
Moyes is instrumental in the vibrant competition scene in Australia. I wouldn't
be flying to Australia if it wasn't for the work that Moyes and especially Vicki
has done. So it does not make me feel good when I point out a problem that Moyes is having
(but not admitting to) with their sail cloth. I first started noticing this
problem at least as far back as January (perhaps earlier). Over time I gathered
more evidence that this was not an isolated case. As I mentioned in the previous article I want Moyes to address this problem and
make restitution to the pilots who purchased Moyes gliders with apparently
inferior, non UV protected (with a layer of UV blocking polyester) sail cloth. This issue of sail deteriorating too quickly also brought up the issue of what
material Moyes was actually using in its replacement of the previous sail
material. Did this new "Technora" actually have a layer of UV blocking film,
similar to UVODL? I'm still not convinced that I have received a straight
answer. So, no, the answer is that I am not trying to put Moyes out of business. I am
trying to make them do the right thing. I await further developments.
